Waiver Application

You are applying for an exemption from the City’s organics food waste separation program. In order to qualify for this waiver, you must select from one of the five (5) approvable justifications in the form below.

If there are any concerns or questions about your waiver, we’ll reach out to you within 7-10 business days. If you don’t hear from us, consider your waiver approved. Waivers are subject to periodic review and may be revoked at the sole discretion of the City of Lincoln should any condition under which it was granted change.

Exemptions:

Lack of sufficient space at a business to provide additional organic material recycling bins.

Limited-term waivers for extraordinary and unforeseen events.

Generates 2 cubic yards or more of waste, but does not generate 20 gallons of organic waste per week.

Generates less than 2 cubic yards of waste, but does not generate 10 gallons of organic waste per week.

Current actions (such as food donation) result in recycling a significant portion of organic waste.

The City can exempt businesses and multifamily complexes on a case-by-case basis from the requirements of the law if the business or multifamily complex meets any of the following criteria (please select the reason that applies to you):
